Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a strategic Vice President, Workforce Relations & Compliance to lead labor relations, employee relations, and workforce governance across UCSF Health and Campus. The role advises executive leadership on collective bargaining, compliance, and policy development, partnering with UCOP, UC General Counsel, and system partners to shape labor strategy and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field.
• Advanced degree (MBA, JD, or related field) preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in labor relations, employee relations, and HR compliance.

Responsibilities

• Establish the vision, strategic priorities, operating model, and enterprise objectives for Workforce Relations functions.
• Lead modernization of workforce policies and service delivery across labor relations, employee relations, compliance, and governance.
• Partner with executive leadership and stakeholders to strengthen accountability and drive organizational change.
• Establish enterprise service standards, metrics, and accountability measures for transparency and quality.
• Leverage technology and continuous improvement to modernize workforce programs.
• Build a high-performing Workforce Relations organization through leadership, talent development, and succession planning.
• Align workforce strategy with UC systemwide objectives and labor relations goals.
• Represent UCSF in systemwide discussions with UCOP, General Counsel, and labor partners.
• Advise executive leadership on workforce strategy, labor relations, and organizational risk.
• Monitor trends and outcomes in labor relations, arbitration, and settlements to anticipate challenges.
