Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School seeks a Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon to serve as Division Chief of Vascular Surgery. The role leads a team of five vascular surgeons and five advanced practitioners in a dynamic, clinic‑based academic program with clinical, research, and teaching duties in Austin, Texas.

The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive vascular care, advance quality initiatives, mentor medical students and residents, and build regional referral networks

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board certification in Vascular Surgery (or board eligible).
• Unrestricted Texas medical license (or ability to obtain before appointment).
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment.
• Outstanding clinical teaching skills.
• Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence.
• Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Eligible for appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at Dell Medical School at UT Austin.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive vascular care, including open and endovascular procedures across a clinical system.
• Foster a culture that prioritizes faculty success, satisfaction and retention.
• Ensure the division meets benchmarked quality standards across outcomes and patient experience.
• Deliver high-quality clinical care, participate in on-call coverage and clinics.
• Contribute to education of medical students and general surgery residents.
• Engage in clinical research, quality improvement, and scholarly activities.
• Build partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary care providers.
