Job summary

Foundation for African Medicine and Education (FAME) in Boston, MA seeks a U.S. Managing Director to lead fundraising, development and strategy for its U.S. operations. The role drives revenue growth, builds major donor and institutional relationships, and leads the U.S.

development team in partnership with Tanzanian leadership. The ideal candidate has strong fundraising expertise, strategic leadership, and excels at relationship-building with donors, boards and partners. Travel within the U.S.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
• 3+ years of management and supervisory experience.
• Experience developing fundraising strategies and revenue goals.
• Exceptional relationship-building with donors, Board members, volunteers, funders and partners.
• Strategic thinker who translates priorities into clear plans and actions.
• Bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead the U.S. fundraising strategy and donor engagement efforts.
• Oversee annual fundraising goals and revenue planning.
• Cultivate major donors and manage portfolios; support broader giving programs.
• Provide strategic direction for development and communications; collaborate with Tanzania leadership.
• Oversee campaigns, donor events and multi-year fundraising initiatives.
• Monitor performance and adjust strategies to meet needs and opportunities.
