Job summary

The Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base, CA is seeking a Full-Time Supervisory General Engineer (Chief of Test Safety) to lead the Wing's test safety review program and develop Wing safety policy.

The role requires expert knowledge across flight sciences, avionics, and electronic warfare, with duties including mentoring engineers, overseeing training, and coordinating risk reviews during test projects.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
• DAWIA certification required.
• Expert knowledge of advanced concepts across multiple interrelated technical and test engineering disciplines.
• Expert knowledge of test safety evaluation involving flight sciences, avionics, and electronic warfare.
• Designation as a Drug Testing Position.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Wing's Test Safety Technical Expert and lead Edwards' test safety review program and policy.
• Provide technical and test management expertise for weapon system development in flight test safety planning.
• Oversee training of test safety professionals and develop/update training materials.
• Oversee test safety annual program assessments and inspections of applicable units.
• Collaborate with Wing leaders to maintain core test safety expertise.
• Lead, manage, and mentor the office’s test safety engineers.
