Job summary

L3Harris Technologies in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a Chief Systems Engineer to lead operation concept development, requirements analysis, and system decomposition across multiple levels. You will guide traceability, test planning, and design reviews to ensure EO/IR systems meet customer needs while managing risk.

The role requires strong MBSE skills, experience with space defense programs, and the ability to mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with extensive systems engineering experience, including requirements management.
• Experience generating and flowing down requirements across subsystems.
• Knowledge of MBSE and DOORS/CAMEO/MagicDraw tooling.
• Experience leading aerospace/defense programs and space payloads is preferred.
• US Government Secret clearance is required / TS/SCI preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements traceability and development of test plans.
• Execute design trades to support technical decisions.
• Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).
• Lead integration and test of EO/IR systems and related hardware/software.
• Support data analysis, modeling and simulation activities.
• Define system performance requirements and ensure interfaces compatibility.
• Identify and mitigate program risks and opportunities.
• Mentor less-experienced Systems Engineers and contribute to proposals.
• Participate in program planning, guidance and execution.
