Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the United States seeks a Chief Engineer, Systems to act as a technical liaison among Engineering, PM, Operations and Supply Chain to optimize solutions for customer requirements. You will oversee a portfolio of engineering projects and guide engineers toward completion within cost and schedule targets.

You will work with the design and development team led by the Director of Engineering, mentor staff, and develop design artifacts and test plans for program reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM is required.
• Minimum 15 years in engineering design or development.
• At least 3 years of project management experience (PMP/CAPM a plus).
• Experience integrating new capabilities and planning by schedule, budget, and resources.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates customer requirements and identifies platform impacts, cost, schedule, and risks.
• Contributes to development of new product requirements with PMs and customers.
• Reviews proposals, specifications, and ICDs for feasibility and alignment.
• Defines system requirements and generates specifications for products or subsystems.
• Supports preparation of proposals with resources and cost estimates.
• Ensures integration meets performance, schedule, and budget targets.
• Mentors engineering staff to improve technical and leadership skills.
• Creates documentation like requirements, high-level design, and test plans.
• Prepares project briefings for internal and external customers.
