Job summary

AlphaLife Sciences is seeking a senior security and compliance leader to build and own our program from the ground up. You will protect our IP, partner with legal teams, and serve as AlphaLife's external voice on security with pharma clients and law firms.

You will lead policy development, ensure ISO 27001/SOC 2 compliance, and align with GxP and HIPAA requirements while navigating cross-border data risks in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, cybersecurity, information systems, or related field.
• 10+ years in cybersecurity or security compliance, including leadership of a security program.
• Strong foundation in cloud security, application security, threat detection and response.
• Experience protecting sensitive data in life sciences, pharma, or regulated industries.
• Deep knowledge of IP protection and safeguarding proprietary information.
• Familiarity with GDPR, PIPL and US federal/state data regulations and cross-border transfers.
• Experience with HIPAA, GxP and ISO 27001/SOC 2 compliance frameworks.
• Experience working with outside counsel to draft and implement policy.
• Excellent communication and executive presence for client engagements.

Responsibilities

• Protect the organization from external and internal security threats across platform, infrastructure, and systems.
• Assess risks quickly and prioritize incident response.
• Build and formalize security policies, standards, and procedures from scratch.
• Collaborate with US and international law firms to align policies with legal standards.
• Safeguard sensitive data, protecting AlphaLife's and clients' IP.
• Monitor global data and security regulations, advising leadership on cross-border risk.
• Represent AlphaLife at conferences and interact with pharmaceutical clients and law firms.
• Own ISO 27001 and SOC 2 alignment and ensure compliance with GxP and HIPAA.
