Job summary

Aspire Public Schools is seeking a Chief Schools Officer for Aspire NorCal to lead instructional strategy and outcomes across a multi-site network of schools in Northern California. The role reports to the CEO and oversees superintendents, principals, and instructional teams, shaping curriculum, policy, and resource decisions to drive scholar success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive instructional leadership across multi-site school systems.
• 5+ years managing principals or leaders of principals, including at least one year as a principal.
• Significant leadership experience in charter schools required, with the ability to lead through scale of change ahead.
• A track record of moving scholar achievement toward grade-level proficiency and closing opportunity gaps across multiple sites.
• Expertise across the TK-12 continuum and ability to speak with authority about learning progressions.
• Enterprise leadership experience: serving on or alongside an executive team and stewarding significant budgets.
• Deep fluency with data and evidence-based improvement; comfort owning a single hard outcome and building systems to reach it.
• Culturally responsive leadership and deep understanding of Aspire NorCal communities.
• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s in education preferred; administrative services credential preferred.
• Knowledge of California charter law, accountability and funding strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior instructional leadership for Aspire NorCal classrooms and report to the CEO.
• Supervise superintendents and lead curriculum and instruction across Aspire NorCal.
• Drive enterprise strategy, resource decisions, and partner with senior leaders to support scholars and schools.
• Ensure scholar outcomes and compliance across the organization, including program quality and accountability.
• Partner with the Chief Technology Officer on AI policy for teaching and learning.
• Engage families, communities, and stakeholders as genuine partners.
