Job summary

Sandia Area Federal Credit Union in Albuquerque, NM seeks a strategic Chief Risk Officer to lead enterprise risk management, compliance, BSA/AML, fraud, internal audit, and information security oversight. The CRO will partner with the CEO and executive team to align risk with growth and strategy.

The role requires building scalable risk programs, governance, and robust reporting to drive informed decisions while maintaining regulatory readiness and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive leadership in ERM, compliance, internal audit, or regulatory oversight.
• Experience building ERM frameworks, governance, and scalable risk programs.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, BSA/AML, and information security governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the enterprise risk management framework and governance.
• Provide strategic leadership for risk, compliance, fraud, internal audit, and information security.
• Partner with the executive team to embed risk management into strategic planning.
• Develop risk reporting that informs leadership and stakeholders and strengthens oversight.
• Guide internal audit, third-party risk, and policy governance to strengthen controls.
• Cultivate a culture of accountability and proactive risk management.
