Job summary

The County of Delaware seeks a Chief Assessor to plan, direct, and administer the County Assessment Office in accordance with Pennsylvania law and under the Deputy Director. You will oversee property valuation, assessment administration, and regulatory compliance for all real property within the county.

Lead a large, multi-disciplinary team, develop long-range plans, ensure uniform and legally compliant assessments, and prepare for appeals.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in property valuation and assessment.
• Supervisory or management experience in a county assessment office.
• Knowledge of Pennsylvania real estate law and appraisal standards.
• Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and complex financial data.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees all assessment operations for the county, including multiple municipalities and school districts.
• Leads a large, multi-disciplinary staff of assessors and analysts.
• Ensures accurate, uniform, and legally compliant property assessments.
• Develops long-range plans, policies, and procedures to improve performance.
• Prepares for assessment appeals and provides expert testimony when required.
