Job summary

Lantern Community Services seeks a Chief Program Officer to lead its residential programs, including emergency shelter and supportive housing, while strengthening data-driven practice across New York sites.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the CPO will guide program development, quality assurance, staff training, and cross-building initiatives to ensure service excellence and improved client outcomes.

Qualifications

• Requires a master’s degree and at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in the human services sector, including 10 years in leadership.
• Demonstrated experience with homelessness, housing, mental health/substance use services, or related fields.
• Strong writing, interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with a dynamic leadership team.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing programs.
• Lead data-driven service delivery, QA systems, and program evaluations across Lantern’s portfolio.
• Oversee staff training and development, and foster a high-performing, trauma-informed, DEI-centered culture.
• Cultivate partnerships with funders, government units, and community providers to advance program impact.
