Job summary

Lantern Community Services in New York City is seeking a Chief Program Officer to lead and optimize our residential portfolio, including emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing. Reporting to the Executive Director, the CPO will drive strategic program development, data-informed practice, and quality assurance across sites.

This role requires a seasoned leader with at least 15 years in human services, including 10 in leadership, a master’s degree, and experience in shelter

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in human services with at least 10 in a leadership role.
• Master's degree required; preference for LCSW or other relevant licensure.
• Experience managing shelter and housing programs, with trauma-informed approach.
• Strong writing, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to develop and monitor program metrics and data dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of Lanterns residential portfolio, including emergency shelter and permanent supportive housing.
• Lead data-driven service delivery, QA systems, and staff development.
• Foster partnerships with funders, government entities, and community providers.
• Represent Lanterns in public forums, committees, and external communications.
• Advance organizational strategy in response to sector trends and best practices.
