Job summary

The Department of Administration's Office of General Counsel seeks a Chief Privacy Officer to develop, coordinate, and manage the privacy program for South Carolina state government. The CPO will lead privacy training, oversee data governance, and ensure compliance with federal and state privacy laws.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of privacy experience, including 4 years in management.
• Ability to understand technology and its impact on information privacy.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the statewide privacy framework, policies and procedures.
• Advise agencies on privacy, confidentiality, and data security requirements in policies and programs.
• Provide leadership on contractual and operational privacy issues at the state level.
• Monitor changes to privacy legislation and keep agency staff compliant.
• Lead privacy training and orientation programs for state employees and third parties.
• Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer to prevent privacy incidents.
