Job summary

Peckham Industries, Inc. seeks a Chief Engineer to oversee all structural engineering for precast concrete parking structures, guiding both in-house designers and external firms to deliver compliant, cost-effective designs.

This leadership role also directs design calculations, repairs, and technical support for sales and production teams, ensuring standards and regulatory compliance while pursuing innovative engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; must obtain PE in all New England states, NY, and NJ within 1 year of hire.
• At least 10 years of structural engineering experience, including leadership roles in precast concrete or commercial construction.
• Expertise designing precast concrete structures, especially parking garages.
• Experience managing teams and coordinating with third-party engineering subcontractors.
• In-depth knowledge of precast design principles and construction practices.
• Understanding cost implications and ability to reduce costs through efficient design.
• Proficiency in drafting, modeling and software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, SAP2000, ETabs, Eriksson, and Salmons Technologies.
• Strong project management and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage internal engineering team and subcontractors.
• Direct and approve design of new precast structures (parking garages) and repair solutions.
• Oversee deliverables to meet timelines, budget, and performance specs.
• Collaborate with sales, clients, contractors, and stakeholders on design concepts.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing and optimize production methods.
• Ensure designs comply with codes and industry standards and implement QA processes.
• Collaborate with leadership to align engineering strategy with business goals.
