Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an experienced Chief Physician Advisor in New Jersey to lead the Jersey Shore University Medical Center physician advisory team and to align clinical and financial performance.

The role is a 100% administrative position reporting to the CMO, focusing on utilization management, clinical documentation integrity, and staff education using advanced informatics and Epic-enabled tools.

Qualifications

• Physician (MD or DO) licensed in New Jersey.
• Minimum of 10 years of hospital-based clinical experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Utilization Management, Clinical Documentation, or Case Management.
• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations (including the Two-Midnight Rule).

Responsibilities

• Provide Senior Leadership: serve as primary advisor to the CMO and oversee the Physician Advisor team.
• Drive Clinical & Financial Optimization: oversee UM, CDI, and denial prevention to improve throughput and reimbursement.
• Innovate with Technology: champion Epic-enabled dashboards, predictive analytics, and AI-supported tools for documentation accuracy.
• Lead and Educate: develop an education curriculum for medical staff, residents, and APPs.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center (JSUMC) is seeking an experienced physician leader for the pivotal role of Chief Physician Advisor. This is a 100% administrative position reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, designed for a strategic leader passionate about optimizing hospital performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Senior Leadership: Serve as the primary advisor to the CMO, lead the JSUMC Physician Advisor team, and oversee Utilization Review to align strategies with hospital-wide quality, safety, and financial goals.
• Drive Clinical & Financial Optimization: Masterfully oversee Utilization Management (UM), Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), and denial prevention to improve throughput, reduce length of stay, and ensure accurate reimbursement.
• Innovate with Technology: Champion the use of advanced informatics, including Epic-enhanced dashboards, predictive analytics, and AI-supported tools to enhance documentation and coding accuracy.
• Lead and Educate: Develop and implement a robust education curriculum for medical staff, residents, and APPs, fostering a culture of compliance and documentation excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Physician (MD or DO) licensed in New Jersey
• Minimum of 10 years of hospital-based clinical experience
• Demonstrated expertise in Utilization Management, Clinical Documentation, or Case Management
• Strong knowledge of CMS regulations (including the Two-Midnight Rule)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Physician Advisor or Medical Director in UM/CDI
• Experience with Epic and AI-enabled UM/CDI tools
• Formal performance improvement training
