Job summary

County of San Diego’s Health & Human Services Agency invites applications for the Chief Pharmacy Officer to lead pharmacy operations, policies, and quality outcomes across HHSA programs.

The CPO will oversee outpatient, inpatient, and skilled nursing settings, ensure HIPAA compliance, and drive strategic initiatives, cost-effective medication management, and stakeholder collaboration with clinical leaders and county partners.

Qualifications

• Current and verifiable Pharmacist license in California.
• Graduate from an accredited U.S. college or university in pharmacy.
• Five years of pharmacist experience in one or more health care settings.
• At least one year of supervision experience.
• Experience in population health and pharmacy administration.
• Ability to operate with independence and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates operations of pharmacies supporting HHSA programs.
• Formulates and implements pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Provides direction on enterprise-wide policy for outpatient, inpatient and SNF settings.
• Ensures medication management conforms to HIPAA and health regulations.
• Plans, organizes, coordinates, and assesses pharmacy standards and medication management.
• Develops quality assurance and cost-saving plans and strategies.
• Conducts strategic planning and evidence-based evaluations.
