UCSF Health seeks a highly strategic, visionary leader to be VP & Chief Patient Experience Officer / Chief of Staff to the CEO. This dual-role executive advances patient experience while partnering with the CEO to drive enterprise priorities across a complex academic health system.

The role balances transformational leadership of patient experience with direct strategic partnership at the center of enterprise decision-making.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare or academic medicine.
• Experience leading enterprise-level strategic initiatives and cultural transformation.
• Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives or serving in Chief of Staff roles.
• Deep understanding of complex health systems and matrixed organizations.
• Expert diplomacy, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
• Strong ability to align incentives and improve access, throughput, and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, execution, and improvement of patient experience strategy across UCSF Health.
• Partner with CNE/CMO and service-line leaders to align enterprise priorities.
• Navigate matrixed governance to drive accountability and momentum for initiatives.
• Oversee Patient Experience, Patient Relations, Guest Services, Interpreter Services, and Volunteer Services.
• Embed health equity in patient experience and drive equitable care practices.
• Influence executive operations and enterprise decision-making at the center of leadership.
