Job summary

Quantinuum in Brooklyn Park, MN or Broomfield, CO (remote up to 2 days per week with approval) seeks a Chief Packaging Engineer to define and own the packaging roadmap for ion traps and related components. You will lead a team of physicists, engineers, and technicians and collaborate with external partners to shape architecture and manufacturability.

The role emphasizes technical leadership across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and photonic interfaces, targeting high-density I/O and 2.5D/3D

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 18+ years’ experience in advanced semiconductor packaging development.
• Master’s degree with 15+ years’ experience in advanced semiconductor packaging development.
• PhD with 12+ years’ experience in advanced semiconductor packaging development.
• Must be a U.S. Person (citizen, permanent resident or green card holder).
• U.S. Government security rule: not PRC or Russian national unless U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Define, develop, and drive an advanced packaging architecture for ion traps with complex interfaces.
• Lead cross-functional teams to develop packaging strategies for high-density I/O chips.
• Define and oversee loops to elucidate mechanical, thermal, electrical, and optical performance.
• Work with vendors to implement and validate packaging processes.
• Support all stages of ion trap development to ensure packaging compatibility.
• Provide technical guidance to packaging engineers to meet system requirements and manufacturability.
• Champion engagements with 3rd parties to cultivate partnerships and co-development opportunities.
