Job summary

IonQ, based in College Park, MD, seeks a hands-on Process Engineer, Packaging to keep our cleanroom production moving. You will spend most of your time in the cleanroom operating, programming, troubleshooting, and improving the equipment used to build our quantum processing units (QPUs).

This floor-first role collaborates with technicians and engineers to develop robust recipes, train operators, and deploy new capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical sciences required.
• 1–2 years experience operating complex automated packaging equipment in production, development or lab.
• Experience diagnosing equipment or process problems and implementing fixes.
• Able to learn unfamiliar equipment quickly while working safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate, program, troubleshoot, and improve packaging equipment with emphasis on wire bonding and die bonding.
• Create, validate, release, and maintain recipes and process programs; establish stable operating windows.
• Train operators and translate learning into clear work instructions and travelers.
• Collaborate across packaging, manufacturing, QPU design, fabrication, quality, test and external suppliers to remove blockers.
