Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive manufacturing operations experience.
  • 5+ years in senior operational leadership.
  • Experience in precision machining, complex job-shop manufacturing, or another high-mix production environment.
  • Strong track record of leading measurable lean and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Experience managing budgets, plant performance, or business-unit P&L.
  • Relational, trusted leader who can develop people, navigate a family-owned business, and introduce change thoughtfully.
  • CNC machining experience, particularly Swiss-type or multi-spindle, is preferred but not required.

Job description

Cox Manufacturing Company is a third-generation, family-owned precision manufacturing company based in San Antonio, Texas. With more than 120 machines, over 200 employees, and continued growth ahead, we’re seeking an experienced manufacturing operations leader to join our leadership team as Chief Operating Officer.

The Role

Reporting to the President, the COO will lead Cox’s manufacturing operations and oversee Production, Quality, Maintenance, Facilities, Warehouse, and Shipping and Receiving. This leader will strengthen operational performance across the full value stream - from raw-material receipt through final shipment - while building the systems, accountability, and leadership infrastructure needed to support sustainable growth.

Key Focus Areas
  • Improve on-time delivery, throughput, labor productivity, quality, scrap, rework, and inventory flow
  • Establish a visible and consistent daily management system that translates company goals into disciplined operational execution
  • Apply practical lean manufacturing and Theory of Constraints principles to improve flow, eliminate bottlenecks, and strengthen equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, uptime, and OEE
  • Develop capable operational leaders, earn trust with the existing team, and lead change without unnecessarily disrupting the organization
  • Assume increasing ownership of day-to-day operations while strengthening alignment across Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and People and Culture
What We’re Looking For
