Sutter West Bay Medical Group is seeking the Chair of Surgical Specialties to lead the clinical vision, service line performance, and physician leadership across surgical disciplines. This role drives strategic planning, perioperative optimization, and access while advancing safety, quality, and financial stewardship.

The Chair partners in a dyad leadership model to optimize OR and ASC capacity, workforce strategy, and collaboration with hospital operations, anesthesia, and care management.

Formación

• MD or DO with board certification in a surgical specialty.
• Significant clinical experience in surgical practice.
• Demonstrated senior physician leadership experience.
• Experience with perioperative operations, quality improvement, and service line performance.
• Familiarity with value-based care, bundled payments, and utilization management.
• Experience working in dyad leadership models.
• Strong strategic, communication, and change management skills.

Responsabilidades

• Define and operationalize the Surgical Specialties service line strategy across ambulatory and inpatient settings.
• Establish and oversee service segmentation (elective vs. urgent, ambulatory vs. inpatient).
• Align surgical care models with case mix, patient acuity, site-of-care optimization, and perioperative capacity.
• Set staffing, block utilization, call coverage, and perioperative workflows.
• Lead long-range planning for OR and ASC capacity and market growth.
• Ensure integration with Primary Care, Medical Specialties, anesthesia, and perioperative services.
• Champion evidence-based surgical care, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead standardization of perioperative pathways and enhanced recovery protocols.
• Optimize access, throughput, and utilization management across surgical services.
• Champion value-based care and bundled payment performance with cross-functional partners.
• Oversee surgeon recruitment, retention, and leadership development.
• Drive performance feedback and accountability via annual evaluations.
• Ensure alignment of compensation with quality, efficiency, and financial goals.
• Lead the physician leadership structure for Surgical Specialties.
