We are seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to provide strategic and operational leadership for nursing services within an inpatient rehabilitation hospital. This executive leader will oversee nursing operations, drive quality initiatives, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing operations and patient care services
- Partner with medical, clinical, and therapeutic leaders to promote exceptional patient outcomes
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and clinical programs
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
- Serve on key committees involving quality, education, ethics, infection prevention, and medical leadership
- Manage staffing strategies, workforce planning, and budget accountability
- Monitor patient care outcomes and implement initiatives to improve quality and patient satisfaction
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and professional development
- Support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful workplace environment
- Guide nursing teams through organizational growth and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required
- Advanced degree (MSN, MHA, MBA, DNP, or equivalent) required or actively in progress, based on applicable regulations
- Minimum of five years of inpatient hospital experience
- Minimum of two years of recent nursing leadership experience with:
- 24-hour operational accountability
- Staff and FTE management
- Budget oversight
- Policy and procedure development
- Performance management and employee relations responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams
- Strong knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, state regulatory, and hospital compliance standards
- Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification preferred or willingness to obtain when eligible
Preferred Leadership Experience
- Inpatient rehabilitation leadership
- Acute care hospital nursing leadership
- Hospital operations and quality management
- Regulatory survey readiness and accreditation processes
- Strategic workforce planning and staffing matrix management
