Job summary

Encompass Health seeks a Chief Nursing Officer to lead nursing across an inpatient rehabilitation network. You will drive patient-centered programs, set standards for care quality, and partner with medical and clinical leaders to achieve superior outcomes.

You will oversee staffing, policy development, and compliance with Joint Commission and CMS standards, while advancing inclusion and staff development within a nationwide system.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in good standing per state regulations.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing; advanced degree preferred or required by state regulations.
• CRRN certification or plan to obtain within one year.
• Five years of inpatient hospital leadership experience; two years in Nursing Management with budget oversight.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with medical, clinical, and therapeutic disciplines to foster a patient-focused, team-oriented culture.
• Develop patient care programs, policies, and procedures for nursing care, treatment, and services.
• Represent nursing on committees such as Governing Body, Quality Council, Med Exec, Infection Control, Education, and Ethics.
• Support diversity and maintain an inclusive work environment.
• Cultivate an environment that aligns with the mission, communicates it to staff, and holds teams accountable.
• Implement Joint Commission, CMS, State, rehabilitation nursing, and hospital standards.
• Use staffing matrices to adjust NHPPD based on patient acuity and budget; analyze data to improve health outcomes.
• Celebrate staff and patient achievements along the way.

Qualifications

• PossessacurrentRNlicensureasrequiredbystate regulations.
• HoldBLScertification(ACLS preferred).
• CommittoobtainingCRRNcertificationwithinayearofmeetingtheeligibilityrequirements.
• PossessaBachelor'sDegreeinNursingorarelatedfield,unlessahigherdegreeismandatedby state regulations.
• Advanced Degree, plan to receive an advanced degree, or knowledge and skills associated with an advanced degree required unless otherwise specified by state regulation.
• Fiveyearsofexperienceinaninpatienthospital setting.
• Two years of recent (within the last 5 years) Nursing Management experience, with responsibilitiesincluding24-houraccountability,FTEmanagement,policy,procedure,and budgetary oversight, as well as conducting disciplinary action.
• Mayberequiredtoworkweekdaysand/orweekends,eveningsand/or night shifts.
• Mayberequiredtoworkonreligiousand/orlegalholidaysonscheduleddays/shifts.
