Job summary

Encompass Health invites experienced nursing leaders to apply for the Chief Nursing Officer role at one of our inpatient rehabilitation hospitals. You will champion clinical excellence, guide quality outcomes, and mentor a multidisciplinary team while strengthening connections to the local community.

Leading nursing operations across an expansive network, you will collaborate with medical and clinical leaders, oversee budgets, and contribute to governance.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required by state regulations.
• Hold a BSN or higher nursing degree.
• BLScertification; ACLS preferred.
• CRRN certification planned within one year.
• Minimum five years of experience in an inpatient hospital setting.
• Two years of Nursing Management experience with 24-hour accountability, FTE management, policy, procedure, and budget oversight.
• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts, and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with medical, clinical, and therapeutic disciplines to foster a patient-focused, team-oriented culture that delivers outcomes.
• Develop patient care programs, policies, and procedures for nursing care, treatment, and services.
• Represent nursing on committees such as Governing Body, Quality Council, Medical Executive, Infection Control, Education, and Ethics committees.
• Support cultural diversity and maintain an inclusive, respectful work environment.
• Implement Joint Commission, CMS, state, rehabilitation nursing, and hospital standards.
• Utilize staffing matrices that factor in patient acuity and adjust staffing to meet budgeted NHPPD; drive data-informed decisions.
• Celebrate staff and patient achievements along the way.

Qualifications

• Advanced Degree, plan to receive an advanced degree, or knowledge and skills associated with an advanced degree required unless otherwise specified by state regulation.
• Fiveyearsofexperienceinaninpatienthospitalsetting.
• Two years of recent (within the last 5 years) Nursing Management experience, with responsibilitiesincluding24-houraccountability,FTEmanagement,policy,procedure,and budgetary oversight, as well as conducting disciplinary action.
• Mayberequiredtoworkweekdaysand/orweekends,eveningsand/ornightshifts.
• Mayberequiredtoworkonreligiousand/orlegalholidaysonscheduleddays/shifts.
