Averro is seeking a Chief Nuclear Engineer for a confidential West Coast client. This onsite, direct-hire role oversees the reactor program and leads the Design Authority across disciplines, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.

The leader will guide the engineering direction from design to deployment, mentor engineers, and coordinate with regulators and key suppliers to manage risk, schedule, and cost.

Qualifikationen

• Advanced Degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 20+ years progressive engineering experience in commercial nuclear.
• 10+ years in senior engineering leadership roles.

• Experience with nuclear plant design, construction, commissioning, and operations.

• Experience working with U.S. nuclear regulators.

PAY RANGE:

$250,000 - $330,000Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualificationsAverro is seeking a Chief Nuclear Engineer for one of our most innovative nuclear energy clients. Reporting directly to the SVP, this leader will oversee a team of Chief Engineers and head the Design Authority program, holding full responsibility for the engineering direction of advanced nuclear reactors from design through deployment.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the top technical authority for the entire reactor program.
• Establish and formalize the design authority framework across the organization.
• Define and uphold standards for nuclear safety, engineering quality, and configuration management control.
• Ensure technical compliance across all engineered systems, processes, and deliverables.
• Provide comprehensive oversight across mechanical, electrical, I&C, structural, systems, nuclear, and civil disciplines.
• Ensure integration, consistency, and technical alignment across all engineering outputs.
• Review and approve highly cross-functional deliverables.
• Resolve complex technical conflicts and establish formal processes for differences of opinion.
• Lead resolution of high-impact technical risks affecting cost, schedule, and safety.
• Represent the organization in senior technical discussions with regulators, utilities, and key suppliers.
• Support licensing strategy and regulatory interactions across all engineering disciplines.
• Ensure engineering alignment with applicable regulatory frameworks and industry standards.

ENGINEERING LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Chief Engineers responsible for discipline-specific design authority.
• Develop and execute technical strategy in alignment with program objectives.
• Represent engineering in executive decision-making and change control governance.
• Provide senior-level technical guidance across product development and design completion efforts.
• Advise executive leadership on critical technical risks, tradeoffs, and long-term engineering direction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Advanced Degree with a well-rounded and technical breadth of engineering.
• 20+ years of progressive engineering experience in the commercial nuclear industry.
• 10+ years in senior engineering leadership roles.
• Design Authority expertise.
• Deep understanding of nuclear plant design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
• Strong knowledge of nuclear quality assurance, design control, and configuration. management.
• Experience supporting new plant builds, ideally including advanced or next-generation reactor technologies.
• Familiarity with modern risk-informed licensing frameworks.
• Experience working directly with U.S. nuclear regulatory bodies.
• Strong understanding of engineering interfaces with construction and project delivery.
