Job summary

Mental Health America seeks a Chief Programs and Services Officer to lead mission-facing work across policy, public education, training, affiliate services, and research. The role partners with the COO and CEO to ensure high-impact, externally relevant delivery and organizational alignment.

The Chief will drive cross-functional collaboration, monitor portfolio performance, and expand partnerships to support growth, sustainability, and national impact in behavioral health across the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
• Experience leading mission-driven program leadership for health or public services.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee policy, education, research, and affiliate services.
• Track record in fundraising support and external partnerships is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership across policy, public education, training, affiliate services, and research.
• Align portfolio with organizational priorities and ensure clear goals and accountability.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration and integration across function leaders.
• Monitor portfolio performance and drive evidence-based impact metrics.
• Represent MHA externally with policymakers, coalitions, and stakeholders.
• Support business development and fundraising alignment with program strategy.
