From severe thunderstorms and tornado threats to winter weather and extreme heat, you'll be the face of weather coverage in one of the most meteorologically dynamic regions of Texas.

We are looking for a meteorologist who understands that weather coverage extends far beyond the traditional newscast. The ideal candidate will drive audience engagement across television, digital, social media, streaming, mobile, and Connected TV (CTV) platforms, creating content that informs viewers in real time and reaches them wherever they consume news. What You'll Do

As Chief Meteorologist, you'll set the standard for weather coverage across all platforms by:

• Delivering accurate, compelling forecasts that inform and protect our communities.
• Leading continuous severe weather coverage during high-impact weather events.
• Producing and presenting weather reports across television, streaming, digital, and social platforms.
• Developing innovative weather content that engages audiences wherever they consume news.
• Writing and publishing daily forecast stories and weather-related content for digital platforms.
• Creating social-first weather content that drives engagement and audience growth.
• Collaborating closely with newsroom leadership to develop impactful weather storytelling.
• Ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, journalistic integrity, and production quality.
• Coaching, mentoring, and inspiring members of the weather team.
• Serving as a visible ambassador for the station throughout East Texas.
• Responding to breaking weather and urgent newsroom situations as required.
• Participating in promotional and community events that strengthen the station's connection with viewers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of five years of weather forecasting and on-air experience.
• Proven track record of accurate forecasting, severe weather coverage, and audience trust.
• Outstanding live presentation and storytelling abilities.
• Superior on-air presence and strong communication skills.
• Ability to ad-lib confidently and accurately during breaking weather coverage.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop others.
• Experience creating content across television, digital, streaming, social media, and CTV platforms.
• Strong understanding of audience engagement, digital content strategy, and emerging media trends.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and thrive in a fast-paced news environment.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work varied schedules during severe weather and breaking news events.
