Job summary

Mackinnon Bruce International is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead mining and material-handling projects from concept through completion. You will design and optimize conveyor and bulk material handling systems, perform sizing and performance analyses, and develop PIDs, PFDs, datasheets and EWPs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 7 years of engineering experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of engineering experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices and standards.
• Experience managing complex engineering projects.
• Ability to analyze technically complex information and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Strong understanding of workplace safety, engineering hazards and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering design and project execution activities for mining and material handling projects.
• Complete engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
• Design, evaluate and optimize conveyor and bulk material handling systems, including belts, idlers, pulleys, drives, take-ups, crushers, feeders and chutes.
• Perform conveyor sizing, capacity, throughput and performance analysis.
• Model bulk material flow and evaluate system performance using appropriate engineering software.
• Review vendor proposals, equipment selections and engineering designs for compliance with company standards, codes and regulations.
• Develop engineering deliverables including PIDs, PFDs, equipment datasheets, BOMs and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs).
• Develop and contribute to project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans and cost estimates.
• Participate in multidisciplinary project meetings and coordinate engineering solutions across project teams.
• Support construction and commissioning activities and help resolve technical issues.
• Conduct design reviews and maintain accurate engineering records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the engineering and project teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline with at least 7 years of engineering experience, including lead or supervisory experience;
• OR
• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years of engineering experience, including lead or supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices and standards.
• Experience managing complex engineering projects.
• Ability to analyze technically complex information and develop practical engineering solutions.
