Job summary

South Coast Marines Limited is seeking a Chief Mate to head the deck department, second-in-command to the Captain, and supervise all deck operations aboard offshore vessels.

You will oversee cargo handling, vessel stability, ballast management, safety equipment, and navigation support, while training ABs and deck ratings.

Required certificates include CoC Chief Mate, Radar/ARPA & ECDIS, BRM, STCW Basic Safety, Survival Craft, medical certificate, Seaman’s Book and Passport.

Qualifications

• Minimum sea-time as a deck officer.
• Strong knowledge of cargo handling, vessel stability, and deck operations.
• Experience supervising crew and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with international maritime conventions and offshore operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the deck department and supervise ABs.
• Oversee cargo operations and ballast management.
• Maintain hull, deck, and safety equipment.
• Perform stability calculations and manage ballast operations.
• Act as Safety Officer onboard and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Support the Captain in navigation, drills, and operational planning.
