Job summary

The Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative (FMEC) invites applications for the position of Vice President of Marketing & External Relations in Albert Lea, MN, to lead communications, marketing, energy services, and external relations for the co-op.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the role shapes member engagement, public presence, and community partnerships, guiding strategic initiatives and a high‑impact external affairs program to support safe, reliable electric service and member value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, public policy, or related field required.
• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, external affairs or related field.
• At least three years of leadership experience; electric cooperative or utility industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for FMEC's communications, marketing, member services, energy solutions, key accounts and external relations functions.
• Develop strategies that strengthen member trust, improve service accessibility and support safe, reliable and affordable electric service.
• Lead public-facing teams and programs, including member communications, account support, billing, energy solutions and outreach improvements.
