Job summary

Freeborn Mower Electric Cooperative in Albert Lea, MN, seeks a VP of Marketing & External Relations to guide strategic communications, marketing, energy services and public engagement. You will lead cross-functional teams, strengthen member trust and drive external partnerships with local officials and industry partners.

The role requires executive presence, a deep understanding of member engagement, and experience in utility programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public policy or related field.
• Minimum of seven years in marketing, communications, or external affairs with three years in leadership.
• Experience in electric utilities or member-owned cooperatives preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for FMEC’s marketing, communications, energy services, key accounts and external relations.
• Develop strategies to strengthen member trust, improve service accessibility, and public engagement.
• Oversee brand, media relations, and community outreach; represent FMEC with officials and stakeholders.
• Lead energy solutions programs and drive external partnerships.
