Urban Engineers, Inc. in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Chief Construction Inspector to oversee CTDOT Bridge & Highway and Rail & Facility projects across the region. The role focuses on assuring work complies with contract plans and documenting daily activities.

The position requires licensure as a Connecticut PE or eligibility, NICET TC I-IV, CCM, and a civil engineering BS preferred. On-site inspection with competitive hourly pay and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer registered in Connecticut, or eligible by reciprocity within 6 months.
• NICET Certified in Transportation Construction Inspection Level 4 (TCI-IV) or higher.
• Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
• BS in Civil Engineering preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all construction within project limits to ensure conformance to contract plans and specifications.
• Monitor and document work performed by the Contractor, subcontractors, utilities, railroads, governmental agencies, and others.
• Interface with inspections staff, Client and Contractors on all facets of the project.
• Perform daily construction inspection of work activities.
• Complete daily reports, quantity calculations, and reports for construction work observed.
• Supervise and manage construction inspectors.

Job description

Urban Engineers is seeking qualified individuals in Hartford, CT to join the Construction Inspection Department as a Chief Construction Inspector. This position will be able to provide inspection on CTDOT Bridge & Highway and Rail & Facility projects throughout the region.

Responsibilities

• Inspect all construction within the project limits to ensure that the work conforms to the requirements of the Contract plans and specifications.
• Monitor and document all work performed by the Contractor, subcontractors, public utility companies, railroads, governmental agencies, and other entities.
• Interface with the various inspections staff, Client and Contractors on all facets of the project.
• Perform daily construction inspection of work activities.
• Complete daily reports, quantity calculations, and reports for construction work observed.
• Supervise and manage construction inspectors.

Requirements

• PE: Licensed Professional Engineer registered in the State of Connecticut, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within 6 months; OR
• NICET: NICET Certified in Transportation Construction Inspection Level 4 (TCI-IV) or higher; OR
• CCM: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
• Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering preferred but not required.

Pay Rate: $60.00 - $85.00 / hour
