Job summary

Mount Vernon City School District Board of Education in Mount Vernon, NY seeks an Executive Director for Human Resources to lead recruitment, equity initiatives, and HR operations for a diverse student body.

The role reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and will guide staff development, compliance with laws, and labor relations while fostering a safe, inclusive environment across all schools.

Qualifications

• NYS School District Administrator (SDA) or Leader (SDL) Certification is required.
• Minimum five years of teaching or related service provider experience.
• Prior school/school district administrator experience.
• Proven interpersonal skills; strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to build positive relationships and influence decision-making.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Supports the implementation of recruitment practices to attract qualified staff.
• Represents the district at employee recruitment fairs.
• Demonstrates commitment to diversity hiring for teaching and administrative positions.
• Develops procedures for recruiting, screening, and placing staff.
• Collaborates with principals to interview and screen applicants.
• Ensures credentials meet contractual and legal requirements.
• Oversees HR records management and reporting.
