Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch (Iowa DOT) seeks a Director of the Project Management Bureau in Ames to lead transportation project management activities and drive division policy and long-range plans for highway investments.

The role includes supervising around 12 staff, coordinating with division leaders and district engineers, and managing the portfolio from planning through construction letting, with representation on the ACEC/Iowa DOT/FHWA Partnering Council.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any field with significant management experience.,
• Experience leading large project portfolios and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership of transportation project management activities.
• Supervise approximately 12 full-time positions in the Project Management Bureau.
• Collaborate with Division Directors, District Engineers and Bureau Directors across the Department.
• Oversee the Department’s software to schedule, fund, and track projects from planning through letting.
• Represent the Department on the ACEC/Iowa DOT/FHWA Partnering Council.
