Job summary

LUMA Energy is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee the full lifecycle of transmission and distribution engineering, from system planning to design delivery and new customer integration. You will unify planning, asset engineering, design engineering, and protection and control to ensure a safe, reliable grid while enabling capital programs and O&M objectives.

Qualifications

• 18 years of progressive engineering leadership experience in transmission and/or distribution
• Experience supporting capital programs, O&M, and federally funded projects in a regulated utility environment
• Deep knowledge of NERC, IEEE, NEC, NESC, and utility regulatory requirements
• Strong regulatory and federal compliance experience for grant-funded programs
• Bilingual communication in English and Spanish is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Directs enterprise T&D system planning with planning basis, capacity studies, and interconnection assessments
• Owns enterprise asset engineering strategy—lifecycle criteria, condition assessment, and risk-based prioritization
• Leads engineering design delivery for all capital programs, including NFC and federally funded projects
• Directs engineering for new customer connections and DER/rooftop solar interconnection
• Owns protection philosophy, SCADA/distribution automation engineering, and control systems strategy
• Leads grid modernization and technology engineering (AMI, DER integration, Volt/VAR)
• Establishes and governs Engineering Standards Library and governance framework to ensure compliance with NERC/FERC, IEEE, NEC, PREB
• Directs engineering support for environmental permitting and federal funding compliance
• Oversees engineering support to Operations—QA/QC criteria and outage response
• Advises executive leadership on high-stakes decisions and governance
• Leads multiple VPs or large-scale programs across departments
• Aligns budgeting with strategic priorities and ensures financial sustainability
