Job summary

The University of Toledo seeks a Director of Government Relations and Community Engagement to lead the Office of Government Relations and drive statewide and federal advocacy. You will coordinate with President and Cabinet, oversee contract lobbyists, and shape legislative responses and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

• Master’s or advanced degree in political science, public policy or law or significant experience in government or higher education required.
• At least 7 years’ experience in government relations or university government relations/ENGAGEMENT.
• Minimum of five years of supervisory experience is required with seven preferred.
• Experience as primary liaison for visits by high political office at state/federal level.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Office of Government Relations and Community Engagement.
• Serve as chief government relations officer for UToledo, spanning local, state and federal relationships.
• Direct UToledo's Government Relations activities at multiple levels in consultation with President and Cabinet.
• Plan and develop responses to proposed legislation and engage with government agencies.
• Build and maintain relationships with officials and communicate activities to internal and external stakeholders with contract lobbyists.
• Oversee community engagement including sponsorships, partnerships, events and programming.
