Benning Construction in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy, reporting, and profitability across commercial and civil projects.

You will partner with the CEO and executive team to optimize cash flow, implement robust controls, manage job costing and progress billing, and empower operations with data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Experience as CFO/Controller or senior finance leader in construction.
• WIP schedules, retainage, and percentage-of-completion revenue knowledge.
• Experience with construction ERP systems (Vista and Procore).
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• CPA, CMA or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead all financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow, with job costing focus.
• Oversee project financial performance, cost tracking, margin analysis, and reporting.
• Partner with CEO/executive team for growth strategies and capital planning.
• Implement and refine financial systems, controls, and compliance.
• Manage relationships with banks, bonding, auditors, and stakeholders.
• Provide actionable insights to project managers and department heads.

What You'll Bring

• Proven experience as a CFO, Controller, or senior finance leader in the construction industry (commercial, civil, or industrial).
• Deep knowledge of construction accounting principles, including WIP schedules, retainage, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Proficiency with construction ERP systems (Vista by Trimble and Procore).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
• Strategic mindset paired with hands-on problem-solving abilities.
• CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required.
