CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Construction | Real Estate | Land Development | Specialty Services

About the Company

We are a diversified, privately held enterprise with more than two decades of proven performance across construction, real estate, land development, and specialty services. Over that time, the organization has demonstrated consistent, dramatic growth, evolving from a regional builder into a multi-entity platform with expanding operational and financial complexity.

Our business operates through four integrated divisions:
Residential & Commercial Construction — A high-performance general contracting and construction management platform generating consistent annual revenue of $50M+, with near-term expansion to $100M+ supported by a robust project pipeline and disciplined market strategy.
Real Estate Ownership & Management — A growing portfolio of office buildings, multifamily communities, and single-family homes held for long-term value creation, stable cash flow, and strategic appreciation.
Land Development — Acquisition, entitlement, horizontal development, and strategic site preparation supporting both internal construction initiatives and external investment opportunities.
Company-Owned Contractors & Financial Services — Oversight of affiliated specialty contracting operations and centralized financial services supporting the broader enterprise.
With a 20-year track record, an entrepreneurial culture, and a disciplined expansion agenda, the organization is entering its next major scaling phase — requiring a transformational Chief Financial Officer to architect the financial infrastructure for a platform positioned for significant continued growth.

Position Overview

The CFO will serve as the senior financial leader and a key strategic partner to the CEO and ownership group. This is not just an accounting job — it is a leadership role with enterprise-wide impact. The CFO will shape financial strategy, capital structure, risk management, and long-range planning across construction, real estate, land development, and specialty operations.

  • Architect a modern, scalable financial infrastructure.
  • Drive capital strategy, investment analysis, and enterprise growth.
  • Lead multi-entity financial reporting, treasury management, and performance optimization.
  • Elevate financial discipline across all operating divisions.
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance organization capable of supporting rapid expansion.

This role is ideal for a financial executive who thrives in complexity, enjoys building systems from the ground up, and wants to influence the trajectory of a growing enterprise — not someone seeking a traditional accounting position.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and ownership group on financial direction, capital allocation, and enterprise growth.
  • Lead annual budgets, multi-year financial plans, and long-range forecasting.
  • Build forward-looking financial models supporting construction, real estate, and land development initiatives.
  • Deliver accurate, timely, and strategic financial reporting and KPI dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance profitability, strengthen cash flow, and optimize working capital.
Construction Finance
  • Oversee WIP schedules, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting at an enterprise level.
  • Maintain bonding capacity and relationships for selective project requirements.
  • Partner with operations leadership to protect margins through disciplined financial oversight.
  • Review and approve major project bids, subcontractor agreements, and construction financing structures.
Real Estate & Land Development Finance
  • Lead financial oversight of the real estate and land development portfolio, including entity-level P&Ls, cash distributions, valuations, and investment returns.
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects through due diligence, pro forma modeling, and capital strategy.
  • Oversee financial planning for entitlements, horizontal development, and site preparation.
  • Build long-range portfolio performance models and investment frameworks.
Banking, Capital Markets & Risk
  • Maintain and expand relationships with lenders, equity partners, and financial institutions.
  • Manage enterprise-level capital structure, including lines of credit, construction loans, term debt, and treasury operations.
  • Oversee risk management, insurance programs, and compliance across all entities.
  • Evaluate and execute financing strategies for construction, real estate, and development projects.
Enterprise Systems & Organizational Leadership
  • Build scalable financial systems, processes, and controls appropriate for a multi-entity, growth-oriented enterprise.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, transparency, and financial literacy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, estimating, project management, land development, and HR leadership.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including senior-level experience in construction, real estate, or development.
  • Deep expertise in WIP accounting, job costing, multi-entity consolidations, and project finance.
  • Proven ability to manage complex banking relationships and capital structures.
  • Strong command of GAAP and enterprise-level financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing teams.
Preferred
  • Experience across construction, real estate, land development, and specialty contracting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-grade construction and property management systems (Sage, Procore, Viewpoint, Yardi, or similar).
  • Background in privately held, owner-operated environments.
  • Experience supporting growth through acquisitions, capital raises, or large-scale development initiatives.
Leadership Profile
  • Operate as an enterprise-level partner to ownership and senior leadership.
  • Drive clarity, discipline, and strategic decision-making across all divisions.
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with rapid decision cycles.
  • Lead with integrity and build trust across the organization.
  • Are hands-on when needed but fundamentally focused on building systems, teams, and long-term financial architecture.
  • Bring a leadership mindset that elevates the entire organization.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Highly competitive base salary aligned with experience, scope, and enterprise complexity.
  • Performance-based annual bonus tied to company profitability, strategic milestones, and individual impact.
  • Long-Term Incentive Plan (LTIP) providing meaningful participation in enterprise value creation across construction, real estate, and land development initiatives.
  • Executive-level benefits package including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Relocation support available for exceptional candidates.
  • Future opportunity for expanded leadership influence as the company scales toward $100M+ in annual revenue.
