SCI, the leading executive search firm in the real estate industry, is seeking a seasoned, collaborative financial strategist and leader to be the next Chief Financial Officer of a vertically integrated developer of affordable and market-rate multifamily, with a history of transacting on nineteen thousand units across fifteen states.

Reporting to the Principals, the CFO strategically supervises the accounting and finance department and works closely with other department leaders in Development, Construction and corporate functions. HQ in Miami. Hybrid schedule.

Summary:

As a key member of the Executive Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports to and works closely with the executive staff and owners. The CFO is responsible for the overall financial performance of the company. The CFO executes policies, programs, and strategies to maximize financial performance and seeks to safeguard the Company’s assets with both long and short term goals in mind. He or she develops and implements policies that include sound and efficient accounting practices.

Responsibilities:

• Manage financial controls and accounting procedures;
• Lead development of and compliance with corporate financial policies and key financial performance indicators;
• Oversee preparation and distribution of financial statements including an analysis of financial performance;
• Oversee production of audits and review same;
• Oversee production of all tax returns and review same for alignment with tax planning strategies to be developed with Owners;
• Lead and manage Senior Accountant;
• Assist with construction requisitions for general contractor;
• Review financing documents, operating agreements, partnership agreements, etc. from a business perspective;
• Prepare annual valuation of all entities and schedule of real estate owned;
• Participate in setting annual corporate budget.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business, accounting, or finance.
• Advanced degree, such as an MBA, is desirable
• Demonstrated success in managing finance and accounting functions within a comparably complex organization
• Expertise in the commercial real estate sector, ideally with expertise in affordable housing
• Experience in general contractor finance is desirable
• Demonstrated experience with oversight of internal control policies, procedures, and risk management
• Ability to perform in a busy, multi-tasking work environment
• Excellent computer skills including GL software (Quickbooks, Yardi and Acumatica system knowledge preferred), word processing, spreadsheets, databases
• Skilled communicator in-person, over email and in presentation
