Confidential Manufacturing Organization in Chicago, IL is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance and accounting function in a privately held, fast-growing environment.

Reporting to the owners, the CFO will shape financial strategy, oversee budgeting and reporting, and build robust controls to support the company’s expansion and performance goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including CFO or equivalent senior leadership.
• Accounting-first background with strong GAAP knowledge, financial reporting, taxation, FP&A and cash management.
• CPA or MBA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy and long‑term financial plans.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, cash-flow management, and performance analysis.
• Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting.
• Prepare and present financial packages, including balance sheet and income statement.
• Establish and enhance financial controls, policies, procedures, and risk management per US GAAP.
• Advise ownership on financial implications of strategic decisions.
• Lead relationships with banks, auditors, insurers, investors, and financial partners.
• Oversee tax filings, audits, regulatory requirements, and corporate financial reporting.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and drive process improvements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy and long-term financial plans.

• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, cash-flow management, and performance analysis.

• Prepare and present comprehensive financial packages, including balance sheet and income statement reporting.

• Establish and enhance financial controls, accounting policies, procedures, and risk-management practices in accordance with US GAAP.

• Advise ownership and executive management on the financial implications of strategic and operational decisions.

• Lead relationships with banks, auditors, insurance providers, investors, and other financial partners.

• Oversee tax filings, annual audits, regulatory requirements, and corporate financial reporting.

• Lead and develop the accounting team while driving improvements in financial and operational processes.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The ideal Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including significant experience already operating as a CFO or equivalent senior financial leader. An accounting-first background is important, with strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, taxation, corporate finance, FP&A, and cash management. Manufacturing experience is highly desirable, particularly where the CFO has been involved in connecting financial performance with real-world operational planning and production decisions. A CPA or MBA is preferred.
