Job description

Established in 2013, Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.) is a global mission-driven organization that exists to rescue children and others from sex trafficking and exploitation in the United States and around the world. We are active in over 30 countries and all 50 US States. To date, we have been involved in over 4,000 operations, impacted over 7,000 lives, and been involved in over 6,500 arrests worldwide.

At this pivotal point in its history and growth, O.U.R. seeks a deeply compassionate, principled, and confident leader with a genuine interest in leading the fight against child sexual exploitation and human trafficking worldwide. We are seeking a strategic, results-driven, and collaborative CEO to drive transformative organizational change and decisively grow our impact globally over the next decade. In collaboration with the Board, the CEO will need to think creatively and strategically about the current opportunities and challenges facing O.U.R. and propose ways the organization will optimally serve as an engine for change. This is an unparalleled opportunity to lead a well-resourced, internationally known organization to fight one of humanity’s greatest moral afflictions.

This is a time of both tremendous change and significant opportunity as O.U.R. enters the next stage of its rapid growth trajectory. The new CEO will employ a seasoned hand and high emotional intelligence to shepherd the organization by providing laser-like clarity around goal setting, creating keen focus on talent acquisition and recruitment, and intentionally nurturing a culture of trust, transparency, and integrity. The ideal candidate is an organizational steward of brand and understands their role in growing and upholding the strong reputation of O.U.R. as a trusted partner and community asset. They combine a strong clarity in decision-making with a systems perspective and ability to coalesce human, financial, and social capital to drive towards measurable and equitable impact throughout the world.

The CEO is responsible for the achievement of all operational and strategic goals, including donor development, fiscal management, board relations, staff oversight, compliance to both legal and ethical standards, community relations and engagement, and all other administrative matters. The successful candidate will build upon O.U.R.’s extraordinary past growth and will display a powerful mixture of personal humility and indomitable will. Reporting directly to the Board, the CEO will oversee the annual operating budget of $40M+ and a team of 150+ passionate employees and contractors around the world, including five direct reports (Chief Financial Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Global Operations, VP of People & Culture, and VP of Legal Affairs and Compliance).
