Job description

The client is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to provide entrepreneurial leadership and oversee responsibility for building belonging and community guided by Jewish values across programs and activities. The CEO will formulate a new strategic plan in partnership with the board, staff, funders, and the people served; offer innovative programs responsive to community needs; and strengthen relationships with individual and institutional donors and board members. The role also includes building upon a strong financial position, enhancing internal infrastructure and operations, and supporting the hiring of a Chief Operating Officer.

The CEO will promote the organization externally within the broader social service community and foster relationships with regional appointed and elected officials. The organization’s mission includes enhancing quality of life through social, educational, cultural, human service, and wellness programs for people of all ages and backgrounds, welcoming individuals irrespective of religion, ethnicity, race, nationality, cultural background, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression.

Ideal candidates demonstrate authentic alignment with the mission and a commitment to Jewish values, with a clear, mission-driven, community-oriented leadership approach. An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required, and a graduate degree is preferred. Candidates may bring strong programmatic experience in areas such as early childhood development, senior services, or immigration/refugee services, as well as healthcare expertise or corporate sector experience. The role calls for demonstrated ability to develop, execute, and measure strategic vision in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, along with a proven track record recruiting, retaining, and inspiring leadership teams and employees, and experience in budgeting and fiscal and business management with an appreciation for running a nonprofit in a business-minded way.
