Job summary

The Austin Company in the United States is seeking a visionary Vice President of Design and Engineering to lead design-build and engineering projects. You will establish standards, drive the engineering strategy, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture from an accredited school; professional registration required.
• Ability to secure reciprocity in multiple states via NCEES or NCARB.
• Minimum 15 years of experience, including 5+ years in a manager or director role.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership to the design and engineering team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
• Develop the vision for engineering success and own the outcome of the overall engineering strategy.
• Work with Directors of Engineering to assign resources to project teams and ensure expertise for successful performance.
• Monitor and measure quality of design and engineering capability and performance to ensure client satisfaction and profitability.
• Maintain and develop company policies and procedures for design and engineering functions, ensuring compliance.
• Identify and lead development of market-specific engineering standards, resources, and tools to improve efficiency.
• Ensure proper architecture and engineering registrations are maintained across locations and compliance with laws and professional practices.
• Oversee annual budgets for the engineering department and monitor backlog.
