Job summary

Afognak Native Corporation seeks a Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance, operation, and repair of all facility systems. You will lead maintenance staff, coordinate with management, and ensure compliance with contract terms and regulatory standards at a Virginia facility.

The role requires a Bachelor's in facilities management, 5+ years supervisory experience in large facilities, and relevant licenses such as AFE (CPE) or USCG Third Assistant Engineer. Travel to sites may be required.

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in physical plant/building operations including power plants.
• Secret Clearance required.
• Certifications/licenses listed in qualifications.

Job description

T he Chief Engineer is responsible for supervising personnel and the maintenance, operation, and repair of all facility systems and equipment. The Chief Engineer ensures all systems function efficiently and safely, and that all work is compliant with contract terms, regulatory standards, and licensing bodies. This role includes direction of maintenance staff and collaboration with management to ensure optimal facility operations.

• Pro ject Management:
• Assist the Project Manager in planning and executing maintenance and repair projects.
• Provide facility institutional knowledge to project stakeholders.
• Coordinate project execution with other departments to ensure seamless integration.
• Technical Oversight:
• Provide technical support and expertise to maintenance personnel.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and licensing bodies.
• Review and approve technical plans and specifications.
• Maintenance and Operations:
• Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems.
• Oversee efficient operation, troubleshooting, and repair of facility systems.
• Resource Management:
• Manage resource allocation for maintenance and operational tasks.
• Liaise with suppliers and contractors as needed.
• Working Conditions:
• May require occasional travel to project sites and other company locations.
• Work occurs in both office and field environments.
• May require work outside of regular business hours to address urgent technical issues or project deadlines.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Secret Clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in facilities management discipline.
• 5 or more years’ supervisory experience in physical plant and building operations including power plants for large facilities.
• Certificate from AFE (CPE), USCG Third Assistant Engineer License, or U.S. State Stationary Engineers License.
• Strong technical acumen in facility operations and maintenance.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
