The Hotel Queen Mary in Long Beach is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee all mechanical systems, lead the engineering team, and ensure guest comfort and safety.

This role requires strong maintenance, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with duties including inspections, preventive maintenance, and coordinating with other departments to uphold the historic property's standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum education as listed above
• 5+ years hotel/related experience or 2-year degree with 3+ years or 4-year degree with 2+ years
• Supervisory experience required
• Current certifications as required (e.g., HVAC, pool, electrical)
• Licensed to operate/repair boilers and chillers per local laws
• Valid driver’s license and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain rooms and public spaces to standards of cleanliness and safety
• Lead, train, and schedule the engineering team
• Perform and oversee safety inspections and drills
• Respond to maintenance requests to boost guest satisfaction
• Patrol property grounds and manage incidents like debris or lost items
• Access sensitive areas responsibly and represent the company professionally

  Run fire safety inspections and epic drills, making sure everyone stays safe and sound.

  Jump to the rescue for maintenance requests and boost those rave-worthy guest service scores!

• Property Guardian

  Patrol the grounds, tackle debris, sort out the “Lost and Found,” and keep everything glowing.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required
