Job summary

Stratolaunch Huntsville seeks a high-impact Chief Engineer to lead the Chimera missile development program. You will be the top technical authority, directing systems engineering and risk management across aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, airframe, GNC, sensors, and effectors.

Qualifications

• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Engineering team leadership experience balancing cost, schedule and technical performance.
• Experience acting as a system integrator on complex programs.
• Experience leading a technical team through missile system development.
• Technical subject matter expertise in at least one domain (aerodynamics, propulsion, avionics, airframe, GNC, sensors) to lead a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to manage relationships with government customers and Prime Contractor leadership.
• Proven analytical thinking and ability to solve open-ended technical problems.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Drive successful program execution with prime contractor, Stratolaunch and customer leadership.
• Apply systems engineering to control scope, manage risk, and ensure technical quality.
• Lead technical meetings and reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Lead trade studies and make final technical decisions across disciplines.
• Create staffing plans and identify skill gaps.
• Support whitepapers, proposals and BD activities.
