Moxy South Beach is seeking a hands‑on Chief Engineer to keep the hotel running smoothly, lead the engineering TEAM, and handle issues with urgency and creativity.

We value a practical, guest‑focused approach, with strong HVAC/electrical knowledge, and the ability to manage maintenance projects while collaborating with the General Manager and Operations TEAM.

Qualifications

• Must have 3–4 years of hotel engineering management or chief engineer experience.
• Experience with lifestyle, luxury, full‑service, or Marriott hotels is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
• Natural problem-solver who isn’t afraid to get hands dirty.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, schedule, and develop the hotel's Engineering TEAM.
• Own day‑to‑day maintenance and engineering operations.
• Maintain the preventative maintenance program and preempt issues.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, guest rooms, and building systems.
• Manage projects, renovations, repairs, and external contractors.

We’re looking for a hands‑on Chief Engineer who can keep the hotel running smoothly, lead a great engineering TEAM, and tackle whatever comes through the door with confidence, creativity, and a sense of urgency.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be the person who makes sure everything works, everything is safe, and nothing gets in the way of the guest experience.

• Lead, coach, schedule, and develop the hotel's Engineering TEAM.
• Own the day‑to‑day maintenance and engineering operation of the property.
• Keep our preventative maintenance program on track and make sure issues are handled before they become bigger problems.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, guest room, public area, and building systems.
• Walk the property regularly and spot what's broken, what needs attention, and what could be better.
• Manage maintenance projects, renovations, repairs, and outside contractors.
• Work closely with the General Manager and Operations TEAM to prioritize projects and keep the hotel running at its best.
• Respond quickly to guest and operational maintenance requests.
• Manage engineering supplies, inventory, expenses, and department resources.
• Make sure the property meets all required safety, fire, environmental, building, and government regulations.
• Train the TEAM to use tools and equipment safely and correctly.
• Jump in when needed. This is a hands‑on leadership role, not a desk‑only position.
• Be ready to handle the unexpected—because at Moxy, there's always something happening.

What We’re Looking For

• 3–4 years of hotel Engineering Management or Chief Engineer experience preferred.
• Experience with a lifestyle, luxury, full‑service, or Marriott hotel is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems.
• A natural problem‑solver who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty.
• Previous experience leading, training, and motivating an engineering or maintenance TEAM.
• Strong preventative maintenance and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Fluent English communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak clearly.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical school or related education preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain all required licenses, certifications, and permits.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies when needed.
