Job summary

Canopy by Hilton Memphis Downtown Beale Street is seeking a hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering team and ensure the hotel operates safely, comfortably, and efficiently. You will manage daily maintenance, oversee projects, and drive preventative maintenance across the property.

The role emphasizes supervising staff, coordinating with leadership, and delivering excellent guest service while maintaining high standards of safety and performance.

Qualifications

  • 3-4 years of Engineering or Maintenance Management experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree or technical school experience preferred
  • Any required government-issued licenses, certifications, or permits
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Experience repairing and maintaining building systems, equipment, and grounds equipment
  • Ability to operate a variety of mechanical equipment, tools, and machinery
  • Ability and willingness to train and develop other TEAM members
  • Strong English communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak fluently
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • A hands-on, solutions-oriented approach and commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming hotel environment

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the hotel
  • Lead, train, and support the Engineering/Maintenance TEAM
  • Assign daily responsibilities and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Oversee maintenance projects and ensure preventative maintenance is completed accurately and on schedule
  • Inspect equipment, building systems, and property areas to identify potential issues before they become problems
  • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of building systems, equipment, and mechanical components
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-functioning hotel environment
  • Ensure all required permits, licenses, inspections, and safety standards are maintained
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Operations Manager to support smooth hotel operations
  • Respond to maintenance-related guest requests and concerns with professionalism and excellent customer service
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to maintenance and preventative maintenance activities

What You’ll Do
