Job summary

The Cleveland Jewish News, published by the Cleveland Jewish Publication Company, seeks an experienced Editor-in-Chief to lead editorial vision, content strategy and day-to-day news operations. You will oversee Akron Jewish News, plan calendars, assign stories, edit for accuracy, and coordinate with print, digital, design and audience teams to maximize reach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
• Significant reporting and editing experience in local or community news.
• Experience assigning and producing high-quality news content.
• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
• Strong news judgment and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work with staff, freelancers, community leaders.
• Commitment to accuracy and journalistic integrity.

Responsibilities

• Lead editorial direction across print and digital platforms, setting priorities and standards.
• Establish and oversee editorial calendars and coverage plans with newsroom staff.
• Assign stories, edit for accuracy, tone and structure, and manage deadlines.
• Write/edit headlines, briefs and editorial material as needed.
• Collaborate with Creative and Digital teams on presentation and distribution.
• Develop digital content, newsletters, social media content and multimedia initiatives.
• Monitor audience engagement and use analytics to inform decisions.
