Job summary

The Kansas City Jewish Chronicle, published by Jewish Federation of Kansas City, is evolving from a traditional print newspaper into a dynamic, contemporary Jewish communications brand designed to tell the stories, explore the ideas and celebrate the people that make Jewish Kansas City vibrant.

The Content Specialist is an exempt employee and will be an essential member of the Chronicle’s team, helping bring the content strategy to life across a variety of platforms.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in journalism, communications, content creation, marketing, publishing or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading and interviewing skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project-management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Writing & Content Creation: write and edit profiles, community stories, features, news briefs and digital content.
• Community Storytelling: build relationships with community organizations and identify story ideas.
• Magazine Production: support editorial calendar and ensure on-time delivery with accuracy.
• Digital & Social Content: maintain content schedule for digital channels and social media.
• Editorial Coordination: coordinate interviews, photo shoots, and logistics.
